Did anybody feel sad for Zak? (A few spoilers.)

Did anybody feel sad for Zak when he kissed Crysta during the romantic song?
It just seemed a bit sad that Crysta didn't return Zak's love at that part.

reply

She did return the love. What she didn't return was the kiss. She was surprised by it and probably didn't know what it meant.

Break it down!

reply

Well I was kind of like "awww"
But she didn't return it because, I
assume, she didn't know what a kiss was.
It's not that she didn't love him back or anything.

reply

I think Crysta was trying to avoid that kind of love. Even with Pips, when hes holding after she flew about the trees, got terrified by the bird... When she realizes hold close she is with him, she pushes him away. Anyone else notice that?

reply

The lack of a mutual kiss between the two main protagonists always bugged me as a child.

reply

I'm amusing maybe she's a tough shell to fall in love with cause she doesn't seem to be interested in Pips and she didn't understand the regular type of love with Zac when she was hanging out with him.

Open Season 1 good
Open Season 2 NOT good!

reply

I'm with the others on agreeing that Crysta didn't understand what a kiss was and that's why she looked so shocked.

But I do think she loved him. Or was at least crushing. :)

On Youtube, some people comment that when Crysta is holding Zak's hands and they started to glow, they mention that's the kind way of fairies like her show their affection towards their lovers. That may be why she didn't have a clue what kissing really meant.

One day the world will become a blissing to us! And a pocket full of love, sunshine and friendship!

reply

I'm with Open I think that what was either. She was in shock and they aren't used to kissing probably they are faires.

I always thought this too

[I look up to Yoda. Damn, I hope to be as tall as him one day.]

reply

That's how I see it, and it's been bothering me since Crysta gave Batty a kiss on the nose earlier. I could be that fairies don't kiss because they're in love, but for other reasons like unromantic affection or consolation. But I rather think they made a mistake.

reply

I think she did actually fall in love with Zak, but knew nothing could come from it since he is human and she a fairy destined to become Magi. Though another theory is that the longer Zak spends with them, the more magic he absorbs. When they're in the sparkling water, when she touches it, it glows, but after a time, it does the same for him. Then when their hands clasp, their hands glow and he begins to float as well. Then later, he touches a tree and feels its pain. And later still Magi Lune imparts part of her magic into him since he was becoming more like them. So my theory is that if he stayed, he'd eventually turn into a fairy human hybrid.

reply

It was too bad they didn't get to be together in the end.

It doesn't affect me, since I was rooting for Pips/Crysta anyway. The whole Zak situation appeared to me as a distraction. She didn't look that sad to watch him go either as she got better rather fast. So I don't believe her feelings were that deep - possibly a crush.

You're all weird. When I watched it as a kid I only thought "Ooh look at the pwetty forest, ooh magic, uh bugs!"
