Extra Scenes

I've always enjoyed this movie - my parents have had it as long as I can remember.

One day I saw it on TV & was watching it and there were multiple extra scenes that are NOT on my DVD

1) Stephen writting letters to Shannan after she's run off. He's sitting outside at a desk, the ground slopes away to the sea, looks like it could be at Joseph's old land, though I'm sure it's not.

2) Joseph working digging ditches after he's lost the big fight & before Shannon gets shot

3) Shannon talking to her father the night before the land race.

Those are just the scenes that I remember, but I was wondering if anyone thought they might re-release the DVD with these additional scenes. Maybe when it hits the 15 year mark or something (as it's already hit the 10 year mark...)?

Thanks,

Erin

Yeah that's the version I have, but I recorded it off of TV when I was little. It was a two night event because there were a bunch of extra scenes. I have been wanting to get the movie on DVD, but I love the extended version, they should just release the extended version. It doesn't take anything away from the already amazing film.

What are Shannon and her father talking about the night before the race?

reply

Hey!

They are talking about where her name comes from. She embodies the spirit of Ireland (hence, Shannon) but he had wanted to name her something awful (Priscilla/Drucilla).

I saw these scenes when I was like 6. I wish I could find them again!

What I did, was tape it off of T.V. Then I rented it form blockbuster. I have two vcr's hooked up together. So I played the Blockbuster version, up until I needed to add a scene. I then put the extra scene in the movie. I also had a vce with a floating record head, so you can't really tell the edits are there. So I have the special edition on vhs. It's old now, so I hope it still plays. But it's cool having something that very few people have.

I've just reassembled this cut in a fanedit using the blu-ray and the (unfortunately 4:3) TV footage. Runs 169 minutes without the recap of Part I. If anyone wants it, please let me know and I'll provide details on where I'm sharing it.
