augh i love it....

I love "Wuthering Heights' soooo much....it's my favourite book in the world. I love the story, I love tragic dramatic romances, *sigh* ! i just love it! I really like this version...Ralph Fiennes is pretty much exactly the way I pictured Heathcliff would be....My friend and I get into nice debates about that...She first saw the 1930s version of "Wuthering Heights" and thinks that Lawrence Olivier is the image of Heathcliff...very dapper and sophisticated...and I try to tell her that no he's not...he's dark and brooding and wild and just awesome....and kind of scary! Heathcliff just rocks.

ITA, I don't think Olivier was good at Heathcliff's role at all. Not that he didn't do his best but he's not the type. Fiennes was a much better Heathcliff. Not mentioning that this is the version (from the ones I've seen anyway) that was closest to Emily's story. I hate when they twist and twirl the stories to a point when it's unrecognizable. ARRGGGHHH!

yeah they definitely twisted the Olivier version around so much! like she died from a cold or something in the movie, but i was like 'wait nooo...that wasn't it." Heathcliff, to me, is in no way dapper or gentlemanlike. He may dress the part, but beneath that he is very dark and brooding and wild, and as good an actor as Olivier is, he's just not a Heathcliff, lol.

I agree with you.
Although actually, I think Olivier was Heathcliff in many ways, I found Fiennes also very, very good in the role.
Wuthering Heights has to me the most haunting novel in the English language.
I loved this version as I found it to be the best.
