Were Those Real Rocks?


Out there on the moors, when Catherine and Heathcliff would sometimes hang out there were these fantastic, ethereal-looking rocks and the one lone tree standing alone. Was that landscape real? Where is the place? Thanks!

Yeah, i think it's real. I think it's somewhere in North Yorkshire, i'll check.

It's Malham Rocks sometimes known as Malham Pavement...look up on google images there are some good shots

Thats on the plateau just above Malham cove.That little tree is still there.

So sorry to contradict a couple of posters but these rocks are not Malham I don't think. It often gets confused with Malham as they look very similar indeed. They even have similar trees! Me and my husband did a Wuthering Heights themed walk a few years ago, we got the locations from someone who lived in that area when they were filming, and I believe this particular limestone pavement was listed on our map as Hill Castles Scar. You can walk to it from Grassington, or there is a steeper climb from Conistone.
