Disappointing

Hamfisted and dull, this movie never gets out of the starting gate. The luminous Juliette Binoche is inexplicably annoying and neither she, nor Ralph Fiennes, are successful in bring Cathy and Heathcliff to life. The remainder of the cast are completely forgettable. While this adaptation more closely follows the book, the 1939 film out laps this one by a mile. No wonder it's considered a classic!

I agree.Neither one of them managed to capture the essence of the characters, but i preffer Ralph's performance.I also thought that Juliette was annoying and the part of Catherine was clearly not for her.I haven't seen the movie version from 1929 yet, but i recommend the tv mini-serie from 2009 with Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley ( it has flaws but i think it it's better than this one).
