Who is the woman at the start and end?!

I must have either missed something obvious, or be completely stupid, but was she meant to be Emily Bronte? Or is she a character that I didn't recognize?

Is time the wheel that turns, or the track it leaves behind?

Yes, she's meant to be Bronte, getting the inspiration to write "Wuthering Heights" during a walk on the moors. The actress is a bewigged Sinead O'Connor.

Oh, that's that alcoholic lesbian, Sinead O'Connor. Apparently she was getting hammered at a pub in the area and stumbled onto the WH set. The director, being a no-talent hack, thought she was wonderful and kept her in the film. He paid O'Conner by footing her bar tab, (which was frightfully large)
