when watching this movie: apocalyptic scenes

did anyone who watch this movie ever got this feeling whey they watch certain scenes get this notion of this could of been set in the apocalypse. like the scene which the dust devil character was walking in that town and the wind was blowing and few run down cars and just that feeling of things happening or in the final scene which windy find that town and it was abandon ( and yes i know that town really exist) i know i'm not making sense but watch this movie and see these certain moments and just get that feeling like this movie could of been set in the start of the apocalypse. even the directed stated about the dust devil character that he based it on the dreams he had about a dark figure in a long coat traveling in the wasteland and you can see a similar character of the zone trooper that brings the pieces of the mark 13 in the movie hardware
