the book + A Hazard Of Hearts

I have just started reading Duel Of Hearts by Barbara Cartland, I have not yet read A Hazard Of Hearts but I hope to so, I have seen the movie of both A Hazard of Hearts and Duel Of Hearts. At the beginning of Duel Of Hearts the book, it is discussing Lady Caroline (the main character's) family. At first, I noticed that their homes were both called Mandrake..I thought it must be a coincidence because I know that same authors use the same names or places for different things in their books. But then she started discussing the history of the house and that each generation has built on and added to it which, is almost a direct quote from A Hazard of Hearts also that her grandmother had a thing for 'gaming' and she said how she died which was different from the movie but as I said I have not yet read the book so it is probably different. She also states that her parents were both Lord and Lady Vulcan. It wasn't until she mentioned that their names were Justin and Serena that it completely confirmed my suspicions that it must be the same characters.

I was just wondering, did Cartland intend this to be a sort of sequel to A Hazard Of Hearts...although not quite as it doesn't really include them (Serena and Justin) it focuses more on there daughter, Caroline. Also, I do not think they showed the connection in the movie Duel Of Hearts because I think, although I'm not a 100% sure that they gave her father a different name and the mother was dead by then.

That's interesting. I don't remember the connection being mentioned in the film. Duel of hearts is set in 1821 according to the blurb on the dvd box, but i don't know what year hazard of hearts is meant to be set in.
