Why is this remarkable film not available on DVD? Contrary to some of the comments, this film is typical of the Scaninavian style, rich with symbolism and thorough, albeit subtle characterisation. The music is a wonderful bonus. Von Sydow is as great as ever, equalled by the elusive Sarah Miles and Bluteau once again axcels in a mysterious persona. Please, distributors, release this on DVD
shareit is available on dvd in fact - got it from a polish store on the internet - vivid.pl. the site is only in polish, but if you email them they will send you instructions in english on how to order.
the dialogue is in its original english version, but you cant get rid of the polish subtitles (you can watch it in polish without subtitles...). the quality of the transfer to dvd is below par unfortunately, and there is no bonus material, but still better than not being able to see the film at all.
