Starring Jeffrey Combs, DOCTOR MORDRID was supposedly intended to be an adaptation of Marvel's DOCTOR STRANGE, but Full Moon Entertainment lost the license, but they went ahead and made the film anyway, changing the names and such.

Believe it or not Full Moon did at one time intend an Avengers style crossover after this called "LEGION OF DOOM." I remember seeing a teaser poster for it. The other heroes would've included Brick Bardo from DOLLMAN (1991), and the invisible scientist Benjamin Knight and the Mandroid from MANDROID (1993) and its sequel INVISIBLE: THE CHRONICLES OF BENJAMIN KNIGHT (1993).

DOCTOR MORDRID and MANDROID may have also been inspired by unproduced works of Jack Kirby that Charles Band hoped to make in the '80s, DOCTOR MORTALIS and MINDMASTER.

The egghead with the saucer body actually reminds me of one of the villains from DOLLMAN.
