Fishbourne Quote

does anyone have the fishbourne quote when his character does coke for the first time?

and also, does anyone have his quote after Belinda OD'd? when he's talking to taft.

reply

you know the jungle creed
says the strongest feed
on any prey it can.

and i was branded beast
at every feast
before i ever became a man.

and the little poem he busted after poor Belinda O.D.'d...

where the junkies prowl,
and the tigers growl
in search of that much-needed blow.

where winos cringe
on a canned-heat binge,
and find their graves in the snow.

Is that from a poem? Or was it written for the movie? I've been wondering about that for years. And what was that part at the beginning about "Gather 'round as I run it down..." and something about his pedigree? Is that from the same poem/ poet?

"I don't know, I'm just making this up as I go..."

Apparently all of the poetry featured in the flick was written by the director Bill Duke.
Missed his calling IMO.

Actually the quotes are from the poem "The Fall" by Iceberg Slim (nee Robert Beck) from his 1976 poetry/spoken word record, "Reflections".

He is inexplicably not credited anywhere in the film. The actual quote goes like this...

"So gather round
And I'll run it down
And unravel my pedigree..."

(A couple of stanzas go by and then...)

"Where addicts prowl
Where the tigers scowl
In search of that lethal blow

And the wino cringes
From the canned heat binges
And finds his grave in the snow."

(A couple more stanzas and then...)

"Where the jungle creed
Says the strong must feed
On any prey at hand.

I was branded a beast
And I sat at the feast
Before I was a man."
