Why is this film so expenisve?

I don't understand why this film is so expensive. I have to admit Deadly Bet is a pretty good film and the music is top notch but this film is to darn expensive for it to be released on three different movie players.

On Amazon's web site new copies of the film start at about $160 bucks while used copies start at about $70 bucks. That is for the DVD version.

VHS copies aren't terribly expensive but expensive none the least. The highest I've seen the film go for is $30 on Amazon.

Laserdisc copies go for $50-$65 on Ebay.

The Entangled/Deadly Bet double pack DVD is the only copy of the film that is a decent price but the DVD is PAL region only.

If this film was VHS only then I would understand why it was so expensive but a film released on three different media players should not cost this much.

I am assuming that the high price of Deadly Bet may have something to do with it being relatively obscure. I do not believe it is as widely know as Bloodsport but at the same time it is not as obscure as Triple Impact. It meets somewhere in the middle.

I would really appreciate it if someone could explain to me why this film is so expensive. I really want to own the film but cannot bring myself to spend that much money on a VHS tape even though Deadly Bet is totally worth it.

I have to say I thought it was terrible but then I'm not really into kickboxing so that might have put me against it in the first place.

I can't believe anyone would pay that much for it. I bought it in Australia in a $2 shop (the one with entangled) for $2 (of course!! lol).

Here's a link to the one I got:

I can't believe they are charging $19 for something I got for $2.

Thanks for commenting. You are lucky you got your copy for $2 dollars. I wouldn't mind paying $19 dollars if my DVD player supported the format but anything more than that is outrageous!

Hopefully my used bookstore has a copy for the VHS or US DVD for a decent price.

You should try looking up the internet for a code to change your dvd player to all regions. Most players can be converted, you just need to know the code.

I did not know that! Thank you for that bit of information!

No wuckas. Actually, if you do manage to work out if you can convert your dvd player I'd be quite happy to send you my copy of the film. It's highly unlikely I will ever watch it again.

UPDATE: I got extremely lucky and was able to purchase the DVD of Deadly Bet for $13 dollars shipped on Ebay! I didn't even have to put up a fight! Someone posted an auction for it and started the bid at $9.99 instead of Buy-It-Now for $30, which some sellers were doing. I was the only person to bid on it!

Good thing I put off purchasing the VHS for as long as I did! Although, it would have been cool to have a VHS EX-Rental of an awesome PM Entertainment film. I guess I could still purchase it if I wanted. It is inexpensive.
