I know the version I watched was in English, not dubbed, but watching the deleted scenes section on the DVD some of the scenes are in Italian. Was it filmed in both English and Italian? Was it released in both Italian and English?
I don't believe it was dubbed because their lips sync with audio.
I wouldn't stake my life on this, but I'm pretty sure it was only filmed in english. Dario's two american productions, this one and Two Evil Eyes, I think he used live sound for the first time in his career. But it was released in Italian also, all his films are.
I think, after watching the deleted scenes that he filmed it in both English and Italian. Maybe I should listen to the commentary track, maybe it will clue in something. I do know that some of the deleted scenes were in Italian, the words matched the mouthing.
Unlikely, unless Christopher Rydell is Italian. I guess they didn't have the original English versions of the deleted scenes anymore so they used dubbed Italian footage. Also, the picture quality of some of those scenes is very bad.
TRAUMA was shot entirely in English. I have a bootleg VHS copy of a longer rough-cut, and it's entirely in English, including the scenes that are on the Anchor Bay DVD supplements in Italian only. This rough-cut also has scenes that aren't included on the Anchor Bay "deleted scenes" section (check the "alternate versions" page for more info)- Anchor Bay simply lifted the additional scenes that were included in the Italian release of TRAUMA, even though they were given access to the same rough-cut version I have.
Both I think.. I believe it was Argento's first full length feature film and a huge hit in Italy! It premiered on the "Big Screen" in Italy and small scale at the University Of MN! It wasn't dubbed at all in the US version! A lot was filmed in and around Minneapolis Minnesota. Christopher Rydell was in MN for several shootings! The ending "Hotel Scene" was filmed in Hopkins, MN!
