4 hours and still thinking whats the rush

"the pureness of the heart is to be wanting that something"....

4 hours and still thinking whats the rush, i agree that the adaption is okay, but very rushed......but as far as the data i only lack the sister Jane. As far as cast i agree its okay, but the sara in my mind was not that fragile....(anyone noticed the whole sarah versus "zoya" mix? and they (in the movie) look alike.....but think it should have been melissa doing jewels and anette doing Zoya.....anyway they are two of my favorite DS books along with on wings,.......

I loved the book. however, I don't feel that this did it justice. The main
characters of Sarah and William look (to me) nothing like they should. William
was supposed to be a very big man and Sarah was to be Extremely beautiful. I think
that Ms. O'Toole is lovely, but not the raving beauty that is discribed in the
book. Also, she didn't have twins, she had 2 late in life babies who she adored.
I think I should be remade and with a script more true to the book.

i think it is a very good movie. annette o' toole and anthony andrews did very well in thier roles. and as far as ms. o'toole's beauty is concerned, i believe she IS extremely beautiful.

I thought Annette was beautiful, and did a good job, but I agree that she was nothing like was described in the book.
Still, the most dissapointing things to me were that they took out all the best lines between Sarah and William. There was so much funny dialog between them, I remember laughing my head off when I read it. They kept one of the funny lines and that was it.
The second dissapointment was in the relationship between Philip and Joachim. In the book, Philip loved him and looked at him as a father (at least that was how I remembered it) and in this movie, he hated him.
The biggest dissapointment was in the ending. The scene where everyone, including Philip and Yvonne, were at the baptism of Isabelle's baby, all happy and smiling along with Julian seemed pretty absurd to me.
Still, I loved the movie. Anthony Andrews was the reason this movie worked. I love him!

I never read the book the film was based on.

This film is a "guilty pleasure" of mine; I thought Annette O'Toole's performance was wonderful and Anthony Andrews was just magnificent. I also thought the casting of the actress who played "Emmanuelle" was wonderful, as well. The best part is the beginning, in my opinion; the latter part of the film -- which focuses on the children as they become adults -- is laborious and very, very soap opera-ish. Annette O'Toole, and I cannot say this enough, is truly resplendent in this role.

You're probably right. I absolutely couldn't stand annette's portrayal of Sarah, or her acting at all. She was so wanting. Her character was so weak and depressing, it hurt me to watch her perform. Some scenes without her in them were alright, but if this movie was supposed to be a touch like the book, it fails miserably. They needed stronger actors. Unfortunate.
