Interesting find
I found a movie that was made in 1945 called "Its a pleasure" with a similar plot as The Cutting Edge. I wonder if this movie was inspired by the older one?

It was ok. Very similar characters. You have the hunky hockey star and the prima Donna ice skater. I would give it 3 stars out of 5.

Wow! Sonia Henie Was in it! What a pleasure to watch on the ice! Too bad though that they used that guy who was little more than a thug. Ruined the movie.
I know, I have to agree. I do not know who Sonia Henie is. I assume she was the main female character?
Yes she was. She became a world star with her skating in the Olympics and then followed up her career making skating musicals. Although she wasn't a "great" actress, she presented such a wholesome character to the movies (and she was beautiful) that everyone loved her.
She did make a ton of cutesy musicals. (using her figure skating).
