Forest Whitaker- Terrible casting.

What on earth were the producers thinking putting an American in a role as a British soldier. He clearly has nothing but an American accent. I usually love his acting especially in "The Last King of Scotland", but this was not really good was it.

Oh and Captain_Augustus_McCrae shut up you wanka

That's interesting to know, because, like the OP, I hated FW in this movie and it ruined my enjoyment. And it wasn't just his accent, his bowling action was awful too :-)

Troll

reply

For me the worst aspect about the casting was that Forest looked very out of shape and it was really hard for him to be believable as a soldier

reply

Did not look or act the part. Very poor casting.

reply

Yes he did and no it wasn't.

reply

Really? That's funny because I know a lot of out of shape soldiers.

reply

no you dont

reply

Are you retarded? FW was phenomenal! I couldn't even tell that he was American at first. Obvious troll is obvious.

reply

Okay, we get that you disagree with the OP about the casting, so just shut up already with the "troll" talk.

I'm from Totenham and I've never heard that accent but then again he did say he was born (can't quite remember where) abroad so that could account for it.

Yes, he was born abroad, unlike his girlfriend.

Lol!

Maybe they cast FW in order to secure US financing. I thought his accent was quite good and he was believable as a soldier.

reply

Yeah, I thought it was a little odd. The accent seemed spasmodically decent, but I found it hard to accept that he was playing a British soldier. Maybe that's just in retrospect after seeing quite a few films in which he plays an American, though.

reply

Well... I just didn't buy Dil so obsessed w/ an overwt., one eyed, black American.

reply

I found his 'accent' distracting.

At one point it went from chimney sweep Cockney to Australian, South African and then back again. In one bloody scene!

I've also never seen a squaddie with moobs.
