I love this movie, but every time I watch it I can't understand why didn't Tim fight back? Tim could have easily killed him. Why did Mort keep telling the hippie he needed more of a beating?

Also, wasn't that David Crosby at the end, uncredited?

It looked like Tim was just getting his ass kicked and that was that. Mort kept telling the hippie to beat him more so he would learn his lesson.
