the song the 'murdered' neighbor sang

like a blues ballad, (or Jazz), as if she were a chantruese and in a style from long ago (put no flowers on my grave?)
and that he heard on the radio after she was supposedly dead--

did anyone manage to catch the title? and artist? -- because I REALLY loved that song (and its been years since i saw the film
but I'd love to look it up now) and have it to enjoy--

it really stood out in my mind :)

also-- did the movie (or the singer?) happen to put out a cd? any information on this would be greatly appreciated

thanks :)

I assume you clicked on the soundtrack listing link that goes with this movie on IMDB and saw the listing of songs performed by Q ROSE. Did any of the song titles match-up with what you two are looking for?

Hi Reiki and Joekerr,

I don't care what anybody says about Consenting Adults, I loved the movie.

And its a wonder I haven't worn out the part of my tape where she sings Dont Put No Headstone on my Grave, by Charlie Rich. Every time I watch the movie I back up the tape and listen to that part several times its so good.

The frustrating thing is that I can find NOTHING whatsoever about Q. Rose anywhere. Is this an artist, or group????? You would think with BILLIONS of pages on the web, that someone with that tremendous talent would be listed.

Rebecca Miller does a great job of "singing" in the movie...I was very taken with her...she is quite beautiful. She's Arthur Miller's daughter, by the way.

Can anyone give more info on Q ROSE??? I have no idea who she is but I am a fan. Thanks very much.

I too have been trying to find more music by this artist. She has one of the most haunting and incredible voices I've ever heard. The director is dead of the movie, the guy incharge of the music for the movie also died a couple of years ago. What a loss not to know who the singer Q. Rose is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Email me at [email protected] for more information.

I expect people have found the info they wanted by now but the track is called' Don't put no headstone on my grave' and is sung by Q-Rose on an album called Q-Rose. I managed to download the track online and it is as haunting as i remember.

I was the music supervisor on "Consenting Adults," and produced the visual & source cues for the movie, including the "Q. Rose" tunes. (Contrary to a previous poster, I'm not quite dead yet.) Here's the story...

Q. Rose was a pseudonym for an L.A. singer named Suzie Benson. At the time, she had a manager who didn't want her name used on a vocal replacement job. Suzie was a fairly busy background singer in L.A., working with Michael Bolton, Jackson Browne & others. You'll find some of her credits on allmusic.com

The remarkable thing about Suzie's work on CA is that she looped the vocals in post-production, singing to picture and matching Rebecca's mouth movements. She altered her voice to match Rebecca's low-pitched speaking voice, and had to sing at the absolute bottom of her range. Despite this awkward situation, she delivered very fine performances, and very quickly as I recall.

As far as I know, the Consenting Adults soundtrack CD is the only place you'll find this recording of "Headstone", along with "Looking Back" a good Clyde Otis-Brook Benton ballad that Suzie also sang. You can find the CD on Amazon Marketplace and Half.com for $5-$10.

I'm delighted that a song we cut so long ago, in such tough circumstances, is still touching people!
