the one thing, even with all the plot holes, is why kevin kline was so reluctant to tell his wife why he no longer wanted to be friends with kevin spacey and why she was such a nag to know.

wife: why! why!
husband: because he wants to wife swap and I don't want to and he keeps pressuring me.
wife: oh, ok.

Yes, the whole movie is so stupid. I live Keep in Spacey, and like Kevin Kline. But this film simply sucks.

I agree, although maybe he felt like his wife would be really upset if she thought he really wanted to fool around with Eddie's wife, and he didn't even want to go there
