After not only taking the word of a slimy nutcase over her husband of 14 years, but jumping into bed with him!
He should have kicked her ass to the curb. What a conceit of a happy ending.

I agree wholeheartedly. I hate endings like that where the wife gets the happy ending after being so untrusting and quick to jump in bed with another guy. After all, when telling him that she wanted a divorce, she said she didn't have the strength to be both a good wife and a good mother. Then she quickly jumps into bed with the other guy even before her divorce is finalized. Not only that but she continues living with the guy even after being warned that he might be a killer and presented with evidence that his supposed wife is still alive; along with her daughter no less so I guess she wasn't that good a mother either. What in the world would cause him to believe that she had changed? After being cleared of the murder, he should have reminded her of what she said about being a good wife and mother then told her to take a hike saying he hoped he would now find someone who would be a good trusting and loving wife.
shareI agree, as well. She was always siding with Eddy- first with the money, then when he wanted to end the friendship, and then after the murder. Her attitude is what made the whole scam possible. You would think after 14 years of marriage, she would be a little more loyal than that. I would have told her to take a hike.
sharein the movie when i saw her demanding kevin kline for divorce,for a moment i thought that she might be angy because her husband cheated on him because he went to have sex with neighbours wife but after a while when it is seen that she is living with the same guy who for us may be the suspected of murder i thought that may be she was also a partner in crime but later when kevin kline confronts her and gives her tape to play in front of kevin spacy she does what she was told.So looking at this i think either director or writer didn't do the homework as expected or may be thee were confused from the time when the murder happened..
