George Michael's performance was the best

I have this video on George Michael's Ladies and Gentlemen DVD and I must have watched it hundreds of times.

Dare I say it - I think it is better than the original.
Probably becuase of the whole event, the crowd and the atmosphere and how everyone joined in at the end it was just so huge.

Shame George didn't hook up with Queen and tour the world. I would love to hear George doing more of Queen's songs.

No, nobody could compare to Freddy's perfomance of Queen's masterpieces. But George Michael did his best singing Freddy's songs in his own style and it was the good part of the concert. GM's version of "Somebody to love" was an outstanding piece of the concert, the concert that I didn't dig in the whole. Especially for this odd and crapy musicians like Axel Rose from G'n'R who had spoiled two great songs, I mean "We will rock you" and "Bohemian rhapsody".
In my opinion, there were too much musicians who should not have sung Freddy's songs at the concert.

I liked Axl Rose & Elton John's version of Bohemian Rhapsody the best...

So much energy...

I agree Axl ruined Bohemian Rhapsody, but GnR were very big at the time. I do like his rendition of We Will Rock You, though.

The two greatest performers that night were George Michael and Extreme.

the concert was a tribute, not a copycert, Axl did great as did Elton & Plant, Hetfield & Daltrey...not to mention Def Leppard & Bowie, those mentioned were my highlights of the concert, George Michael's songs were like lip-syncing to Freddie, OK if thats what you're into, But Freddie Mercury was a HARD ROCKER 1st...

and he would have loved to see all the young singers and singers of his era rockin' to his music...Like he would have been proud to have seen Paul Rodgers fill in as Queen's lead vocalist from 2005-2009, Freddie was a huge fan of Paul...

He was the only one who didn't ruin Freddie's songs.

First thing I thought of after learning of his passing was how his "Somebody to Love" stole this concert. I never followed his pop career but boy he knocked everyone else for a loop. Even Bowie, who was good. But George Michael was great.

His duet with Lisa Stansfield was particularly good.
