I thought at first that he was going to pick up something that might clue us in on a possible sequel but nothing happened. The movie just ended. I wonder what the purpose of him at the end was? Maybe just to give whoever played him some screen time?

Sort of just a subtle way to end the movie. A little bit of symbolism for "things being cleaned up and forgotten"
