Good movie

I know all about the true story of Beth Thomas. I read her book "Dandelion On My Pillow, Butcher Knife Beneath." There's parts of that book that make me very emotional. I also got a DVD of the Child of Rage Documentary from 1989. I don't like some of the things that were changed in the movie, but other than that it is a good movie. It shows exactly what happens to some children who are severely abused and neglected as babies. They learn not to love or trust anyone. They protect themselves by keeping everyone away and not letting anyone get close to them. These kids never developed a conscience in the first place, because there was no bonding in their first years of life and they were terribly hurt too. These kids can literally become ferocious. But its not their fault. The attachment therapy, such as Holding Therapy, can be very effective. The end of this movie when Catherine changes and starts crying because Jill's crying is such a powerful scene. My eyes always tear up there. Catherine was feeling love and empathy inside.

I have a family who was adopted and has what Cat has. She functions normally as an adult working and such but still very with drawn. Sadly she's lost custody of all of her children plus married 4 times and not even 30. We have another adopted family member with a similar history and life which is a little better.

I was abused pretty bad as a kid myself but thankfully I had family around me who showed me love through out my life.

If Cat's story interests you I strongly suggest reading books by Cathy Glass. She is a foster carer in the UK. The book Damaged tells a story similar to Cat's. Most of her books are full of sad child abuse stories but also full of the hope she gives them. She is an amazing woman.
