I heard this movie is mostly fiction.

I've been reading the book this film is supposedly based on, and the consensus seems to be that the film is 98% fiction.
Even "Cat" herself seemed to indicate this, that the film didn't tell the real story.
Disappointing, as I was fascinated with the story & the therapy so I sought out the book.
Its actually not the best narrative, I couldn't even finish it. 'Cat's' story is barely even mentioned in it. I'll donate it to Goodwill I think.

Did anyone else read it?

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

If you search 'Child Of Rage' on You Tube you will see the true story...it's quite harrowing.

The documentary Child Of Rage on YouTube is what the movie is based off. It's very similar to the movie. What book are you referring to?

I found the book. It's called Dandelion On My Pillow Butcher Knife Beneath by Nancy Thomas. I just started reading it and it's a great book.

Another update from the book- So far the movie plays true in many parts. But Beth is just about 18mts when she is adopted. Her brother is about 7mts or so. Beth does harm animals, other kids and even attempts to molest her brother.

The holding therapy is done not by the adoptive parents but by a skilled doctor and foster mom named Nancy Thomas. Beth goes to live with Nancy while she heals from RAD. It is Nancy who does all the holding and cuddling Beth.

I'm reading Dandilion On My Pillow Butcher Knife Beneath by Nancy & Beth Thomas. Nancy is the woman Beth goes to stay with in the documentary. Beth's adoptive parents decide it is best for her brothers health if Beth doesn't return home. Nancy adopts her. So it seems the brother remained with the adoptive parents. I'm not finished with the book so I'll update if it give more info on the brother. I recommend this book. It's great but tough to read. The degree of abuse children face is shocking. Beth's story is just a small part of it so far. Nancy is an amazing woman.
