Movie is a total disappointment for those have read the book

Charlie chaplin's autobiography was extensive and potrayed the emotions and facts in such a manner that u will connect with chaplin throughout ... but the film inspite of good acting falters in screenplay and jumps from scene to scene ..

the most important part in chaplin's life is his childhood and stage plays and his experiences in workhouse and mother becoming insane .... the movie made a mess of it as it randomly had scene about it and jumped with a single line inbetween "after 7 years , after 10 years "

also chaplin was not potrayed in the manner his autobiography was ... he was shown as a grey shaded character sometimes and sometimes nothing at all ..

overall a disappointing movie on chaplin , particularly for people who had read the book

Disagree. Look, of course a book is going to be able to go into more detail. Fantastic film, whether you've read the book or not.

They had more than 90 minutes of material that they did not put in the movie. Still, the movie is almost 2h30m.

In a book you tell everything, in a movie you have to make choices.

As a big Chaplin fan, I would gladly have taken a 5 hours movie but you know very well that it would've bomb at the box-office.

Exactly.. The man lived to be 88 years old - they're not going to be able to show everything and whilst they did show his childhood, they focused mainly on his career and relationships as an adult because that's the period most people know him from.

Any movie is total dissapointment if you read the book.
