Question about ending

Were those clips towards the end of the film really the ones they used at the Oscars when he won his Honoarary award, or did they just edit their own segment? Because that was my favorite part of the movie.

Its's alive! It's alive!

That was the best part of this bad film. It showed what a legacy Chaplin left us.

"bad film"? Are you blind and deaf or merely retarded?

To answer your question, yes it was an edited version of the compilation shown at the Oscars.

reply

I saw it when it aired originally and it seems like it was longer so yes; it must have been edited.

Brad...Whatcha gonna do? What are you gonna do?

reply

I could not find the actual films clips shown anywhere but you may like to see this.

He got a 12 minute standing ovation...longest ever...so that was edited.

Jackie Coogan..The Kid..is seen in audience at 5:10.

I remember seeing this on tv (the Oscar award for CC) when it really happened. It was wonderful!Chaplin was very unemotional in accepting the award, and as I recall he was in a wheel chair.

reply

I saw it too. Very memorable. Charlier was rather unemotional, but he wasn't in a wheelchair.
