It's not as high budgeted as some of the others. I saw Khyber Pass and the one that takes place on the Ocean Liner, and I can't say that I really found that much more humor in those films than in this one.
And this comment comes from a man who watched a lot of British imports here in the US growing up.
In fact think this film has a little more American wit than the subtle British wit that the Carry On films are noted for.
And to be honest, as entertaining as the Carry On films can be, none of them are what I would call "great cinema".
Kurosawa they ain't. Then again neither are Steve Martin films, an American comedian whose made films on par with the Carry On series.
I don't know ... maybe you need to expand your horizons a little.
