I love Carry Ons--I Really do --I couldnt believe that someone bankrolled this garbage, shot it and made it--it gives movie making a bad name! -- and what a sad end to such a wodnferful legacy--I want my 100 minutes back!
Compare this to say Carry on Screaming....arhhgghhhhh
well, no, it's not as good as screaming etc. but compare it to 'england' or 'emanuelle' and frankly it's a masterpiece.
shareIt's not as high budgeted as some of the others. I saw Khyber Pass and the one that takes place on the Ocean Liner, and I can't say that I really found that much more humor in those films than in this one.
And this comment comes from a man who watched a lot of British imports here in the US growing up.
In fact think this film has a little more American wit than the subtle British wit that the Carry On films are noted for.
And to be honest, as entertaining as the Carry On films can be, none of them are what I would call "great cinema".
Kurosawa they ain't. Then again neither are Steve Martin films, an American comedian whose made films on par with the Carry On series.
I don't know ... maybe you need to expand your horizons a little.
