The Civil War board is bad in a way I didn't expect, but should have.

Apart from the trolls, there's also this current of discussion about who was right, which is fine, but it's turning into the same stupid fanboy warring that we get whenever something is "vs" something else.

It may take longer for the board to calm down than I was hoping.

That's nothing. The X-Men: Apocalypse board has idiots who started a petition to "stop Disney from paying critics"...

Probably annoyed that the first reviews are coming in and it's split (leaning more negative so far) rather than overwhelmingly positive... which may not bode well once it hits theaters (domestically) on May 27th.

Nonetheless the Civil War board is a complete mess as well. Hordes of bots, trolls, and circular arguments (rather than honest debate) left and right.

Thoughts on CW and Spidey?

I'm seeing it tomorrow.
I basically knew I wasn't going to be seeing it this weekend.

It still isnt that bad. I thought when we were all on the Avengers board, it was worse. We had the caterpillar trolls like Pope, Jon Shiggalo and Philip Evans who pretended to like the film just to get personal dirt on everyone on the board and then started to troll with personal attacks.

I don't think it's been that bad, to be honest. Certainly nothing like the AOU or Ant-Man boards.
There have been the inevitable "why is this film 8.5?", "why do critics like this film?" and the tired "am I the only person who disliked this movie?" threads (That last one I particularly loathe), but overall it's been tolerable. I haven't seen anyone brand the film as "disgusting", as they did with AOU. But then again, maybe that's because I have so many of them on 'ignore'...

Yeah, my reaction here was that it seemed like so many posters--including normally sane ones--felt that the point of the film was to take sides, so they're fiercely arguing for their position, overlooking what's really going on in the movie.

People on both sides of this make decisions for reasons that aren't at all logical, that have much more to do with their personal reactions and feelings than with the law or what's right.

Ultimately, "what's right" is up to us as viewers, and I'm perfectly comfortable saying, "Steve did this right, but he really screwed that up." The final fight in the film is a direct result of Cap following Zemo's breadcrumbs and making a VERY BAD ASSUMPTION about what Zemo is up to, which, tracing it back, also leads to the airport battle and ultimately Rhodey's injury.

There's some pretty good discussion going on right now, particularly in a thread called "Falcon deserved it." that I posted. Having seen the film three times, it actually has me primed to see it again. There are clearly layers here.

What's happening, though. Is that everyone's missing the third part: they've decided who's right and are fighting for it with blinders on.

So... your standard internet debate/argument then.

Yes, but as I said, normally sane posters are doing it.

I saw it Saturday & wasn't overly impressed. I prefer both Whedon's efforts to this as well as Winter Soldier.

I don't see how anyone can be on Tony's side.

This isn't Wall Street-this is Hell. We have a little something called integrity-Crowley

reply

I actually loved the move, but yeah, I felt like Tony's side barely had an argument.

DesiredFX,

Trust me, the CW board is a beautiful and colorful paradise when compared to the "Batman v Superman" forum. That is truly infested by the most dangerous retards in the IMDB "world".
