I liked this movie adaptation slightly better than the short story, "The Forbidden" it came from! I liked how it still kept a lot of the same scenes but played them out differently or with other characters. However the Candyman in the short story was in my opinion described as a lot scarier than Tony Todd's Candyman character! And.....SPOILER ALERT................................................I liked that the baby died in the short story because kids being killed is a very disturbing yet all too real occurrence and to have the movie give a kind of happy version of him being saved makes me roll my eyes.

The short story is brilliant. I think the film was a perfect synthesis of the Forbidden, Bloody Mary, and the true story of the schizo lady who was killed by thugs climbing into her apartment from the bathroom mirror.

I would love to see an adaptation of the story as is, though, set in England and with more of a Wicker Man/Lottery ending.
