Why does Helen keep grabbing potential murder weapons?

How dumb of her. I hate it when people act like fools. Who grabs a butcher knife and then rushes at someone with it? Or grab a steak knife and hold on for dear life. Is she trying to be found guilty and committed?

Well she woke up in strange place, not knowing where she was, like she was forcibly taken there. So it's understandable to pick up the nearest thing to defend yourself with.

In the kitchen she grabbed the knife cause Candyman was in her apartment, so that's what why.

I thought it was pretty obvious and logical, myself.

We must have watched different movies. For example, when she woke up in her apartment, she didn't know Candyman was there. All she saw was that she was laying in a puddle of blood, saw a bloody knife, grabbed it and ran at her roommate. Candyman wasn't around.

I thought that she grabbed the knife because she was afraid that Candyman would still be there, like around the corner to surprise her or something. She was afraid he would still be there, since he was there before she was knocked out.

-Well Helen woke up in a bloody apartment, she didnt know how she go there nor knew what was going on but she heard someone going nuts/screaming inside a room so she uses caution in picking up a bloody meat cleaver as a defense weapon just in case.

-When Candyman appears at her apartment she takes a butcher knife to protect herself from him, thats all.

She's not dumb.

Nobody was screaming. The started screaming when Helen ran at her. Again, Helen was dumb

reply

When you wake up after being knocked out, it's common to grab the nearest thing that can be used as weapon for self defense, when you wake up, since you do not know what happened, and can still be in danger.

Helen ran on who?

reply

I forget the lady's name but she was in another room. Helen woke up, grabbed the knife and ran into the room. Then she ran at the lady who was screaming and the cops came in.

Helen didnt ran at the Ann Marie. Ann Marie ran to attack Helen because she thinks Helen has something to do with the disappearance of her child and she tried to attack Helen again but the police stopped her.

reply

Exactly, Helen didn't attack Ann Marie. And even if no one heard screamingm it is irrelevant. Waking up in a place you do not know, after being knocked out is enough to make a lot of people grab something to defend themselves with.

reply

I groaned when she did it the first time, but I could understand it at least. And she was attacked first. But when she did it the second time, I thought "You've got to be *beep* kidding me". That was really annoying.

Imagine being Helen. A large man with a huge rusty hook is invading your apartment. His intent is to kill you. The first thing you would do is grab a kitchen knife to hopefully get rid of him. Candyman was smart. He knew this would set her up badly. He wanted to destroy her life so she would be his.
