I took a gander at the stills from the film and lo and behold, there's a photo of Bernie attending Helen's graveside service (walking behind Jake)

Kasi Lemmons played Bernadette and there is no doubt this is the same woman. I know sometimes actors play backround characters (as fill-ins), but not in a very visible scene.

I know this is a very mental film as to who is who and did what, but -
