A beautiful white girl goes snooping into a men's room in the ghetto

Alone. In the southside of Chicago. She's lucky a black eye was all she got out of the ordeal. She could have been AIDS-raped 50 times over before being murdered.

reply

Absolutely. That scene was pretty chilling.

reply

Agreed. I thought that was damn stupid of Helen too! I wouldn't walk in there even if I was armed with a bazooka!

Not to mention she stayed even after she saw the place was, literally, decorated with *beep*

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

reply

It was stupid Helen to walk in men bathroom in Chicago by herself

Gorgeous? Stunning? Pretty? Hot? Cute? Lovely? Wonderful? Fine? Take your pick.

Sad story. You got a smoke?

“Attractive.” That’s as far as Medsen goes in the adjective department.

I liken her as a screen personality (as opposed to “an actress”), but let’s eschew immature hormone-driven hyperbole. Or just plain being inaccurate. Or both.

reply

Well, nobody ever said she was a smart woman.

What the worst part is though is that she was knocked unconscious and left on that nasty washroom floor for god-knows how long. If I remember correctly, there was sh!t rubbed all up and down the walls and on the floor, and dried blood on the floor, too. 😲

That was creepy. They did such a great job building the tension there. The setting itself was scary enough without adding the thugs.

Again I have to ask, it is clear from the structure of the place that it used to be some place nice...many years ago. Why in the hell would it go into such a state of devastation? I just don't understand that.

I'm Oddly Even, who the hell are you?

Welcome to the ghetto. Everywhere is 'nice' until the low income families get in. Then it turns to shit pretty quickly.

The film refers to Cabrini Green, at one point, as 'the projects'. Typically, in the context of city redevelopment, a 'project' is intended as an a housing solution for low income families. These types generally don't look after an area.

reply

FYI, Cabrini was in the North Side of Chicago. Not the South Side.

reply

There's brave and then there's stupid. Helen was definitely the latter.

"What you don't like rice? Tell me Michael, how can a billion Chinese people be wrong?"

reply

It was actually in Near North Side Chicago where Cabrini Green once was.

But yes that was really stupid of her. Even if you're a black male that's not from that neighborhood, it's still really dangerous. Helen got extremely lucky. In real life she would of been raped like you said and stabbed to death.

Meet me at the waterfront after the social.

reply

Helen is a brave woman.

Yes, Cabrini Green was a dangerous, gang/drug-ridden, lawless area. No one couldnt pass through there or even visit people.

Chicago today still hasnt changed.
