Benny stole the show!

It's hard to understand why everyone seems to think of Amilyn as the crowd favorite in this movie when it's Benny who really (sorry) slays them in the aisles!

Seriously, I don't see how you could watch David Arquette in this and not at least smile. I think he captured the movie's mood perfectly: vampires are evil and scary, but they can also be SILLY!

I especially enjoyed the scene near the climax where Benny is fighting with Pike and he's giggling madly and firing off quips at what seems like a mile a minute. It's arguably Benny's finest hour - just before his life comes to an abrupt end, of course!

Benny was quiet funny....him impersonation of the lion from wizard of oz was pure hilarity....."Come on! fight like a man!"
another one scene stealer was buffy's friend Fuller who was turned....he had a few good funny movie
especially the part when he was chased outta the gym and when he got out he hissed at the guy on the phone...scared the *beep* outta him and ran off laughing

Actually, I think almost all of the supporting players were funny, each in their own way. Joss Whedon (who is the REAL driving force behind this movie, not Fran Kuzui) really knows how to write good satire: pushing it just enough to where it's mildly absurd, but still true-to-life and not outright POLICE SQUAD-style grotesque. Growing up in Southern California over the past three decades (as I have), you do meet people who are unconsciously kinda like Benny. (Buffys, for that matter, are even more common!)

I used to wonder how BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER would have fared as a more "serious" movie - how someone like Tim Burton or Robert G. Tapert (co-creator of HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS and XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS) could have handled the material. Somehow, I think something like that would have resulted in a more high-profile movie. But then again, Burton would have probably hijacked the material too much and even blurred the focus, while Tapert would almost certainly have had a hard time balancing comedy with drama.

Come to think of it, one thing I will always wonder is why Whedon didn't sign on with someone like Miramax or New Line and direct this fim himself.

I always liked the scene when Benny showed up at Pike's window after he died. "Let me in Pike, I'm hungry!" That scene was creepy yet a bit funny at the same time.

"Dude youre flying, get outta here"!

That scene stuck with me as my favorite for a long time.
