the slaughter of the animal

Can someone tell me when exactly the (dare I say, infamous) slaughter of the pig occurs in the movie? I'd prefer not to see it, but I'd really like to see this documentary. Thanks much in advance.

reply

Towards the end of the movie. its a hard scene to watch, let me tell you that. The guy that slaughtered the pig, his name is Moses...can you believe that.

But do watch the documentary. The slaughtering of the pig just doesn't happen. You know its going to happen before it does, so you can fast forward that part.

I hope that helps.

reply

Yes you will have warning. The guy sure did a lousy job! It really made me mad! An animal can be killed in a humane manner, definitely not the case here.

reply

There are millions of things in the world to get mad over, the death of a pig that is raised to provide meat being killed for said meat isn't one of them.

reply

The way they did it was bad. First of all why shoot it in the head with a bee gun? That didn't do anything but alarm the pig and make it harder to control. He could have walked right up to it and just cut its throat. Also, why flip it upside down and curse at it? Just walk up and cut it's throat. I have no problem with killing animals for food, but the way it was done kinda pissed me off and saddened me at the same time.

reply

it was hard to watch, the part where the pig gets up and attempts to walk after having his throat cut is awful.

reply

Don't be a wuss. If you can't bear to watch unpleasant things, then this (or any serious) documentary isn't for you. Go watch Disney movies.

This is about facing hard truths.

"I'll book you. I'll book you on something. I'll find something in the book to book you on."

reply

errr, ok. So just because im watching a 'serious' docementary i shouldn't be shocked to see a pretty brutal animal slaying.

it doesn't matter how grown up you think you are, seeing something like that is always very upsetting and very unexpected.

I'm a meat-loving fool, and I don't often have a weak stomach, but...

This scene just totally turned me off to the movie. It's so forced, it's obviously a case of young film directors desperately wanting to be "edgy."

Actually, I'm not going to bother finishing this doc. That scene was just toooo retarded.

reply

I questioned why the scene was in the film, too.... until I saw Delbert standing there. The point is: he doesn't even slaughter his own livestock, so smothering his brother would be even less likely.

Great point.

I was zoning out during that part, maybe to protect myself mentally. This doc is already difficult enough to watch. A lot of strange feels...

Look, it was in a barn. People do a lot of stupid things in barns.

reply

I couldn't watch that part

I walked out of the room as soon as that scene came on and didn't come back for a few minutes until it was over. I saw on IMBD that a scene killing a pig was included and I said "thanks for the heads up" and avoided it. Thank God.

You know it's going to happen as soon as a truck and trailer pull up and a man holding a rifle opens the trailer which is holding the pig.

At first I didn't think that they would show it, maybe show the aftermath. But sure enough, to my surprise, they did.
