How do we know if this is an official NIN release?

Are there any references or whatever pointing out..?

reply

Considering the fact that Trent Rez. Acted in it, wrote it, performed it, means that he had nothing to do with it?...

this is a nin release but not one of the Dvd Quality ones (no halo number, no dvd yet, only bootlegs)

But yes Nine Inch Nails are in it and everything.

reply

The best quality one out is the remastered DVD version that surfaced over a year ago now on torrent sites. When "Collected" was released with short clips of it they were compaired to the remaster with very little difference.

reply

just out of curiousity are you talking about the 2.0gb remaster or the 1.3gb remaster, the 1.3 remaster seemed to be worse quality then the 300mb mpg

reply

I've got and have only known of a 1.4gb remaster but watching it on my tv at home I've found it to be much better then the mpg. On a computer moniter it may not be that much of a difference....

at the end, it says "copyright 1993 Interscope Records"

reply

not only that but at the end for the end credits there is a large "N" but in lower case. it is printed in the exact same manner as on the ep of broken, yet oddly the end credit i saw had a blue n as if for "Fixed" yet this piece was for broken.

reply

some of the audio from the broken video are used as samples on the fixed ep. I can only imagine that has something to do with it

this is not an "official" release. trent reznor gave it out to friends and a "few dominatrixes". nor was it meant to be released, and in fact each video had "breaks" in it at different times so it would be clear who leaked it, should it be leaked. trent has said it was likely gibby haynes of the butthole surfers.

trent is quoted as saying the video for gave up in which a young man is being tourtured "made the happiness in slavery video look like a disney movie"

the reason it says copyright interscope is because of the music, obviously--you can also see in the very beginning a semi-transparent lower case n with broken under it.

it won't be oficially released in full, as trent has expressed regret in making it. the happiness video was on the closure vhs, i believe, as well as a help me i am in hell short with a guy eating a steak and drinking wine while being --and the toilet/pipes intro was once the lead in to alternative nation on mtv about a thousand years ago {mid 90's} --minus the end bit with rubber suit guy.

don't be so sure... ;)

It may not be as bad today. With horror films becoming more graphic and youtube displaying all forms of "REAL" mutalation and even down right murder with the click of a button. Even the hanging of the guy isn't a shock, thanks to the Sadaam Hussain clip. Time has passed. The film could very well make it, Broken can now be fixed.

both good points. trent also said with teeth would be his last studio album, and that he wouldn't tour anymore... now we have "year zero" on the way, and a new tour to support... so never say never, i suppose.

"broken can now be fixed"---effing brilliant.

I have a 350mb x264 encode of this from the original NTSC DVD's that Trent released on NIN's site for a short time.

Having viewed 3 other encodes of Broken it is by FAR the best sounding and the best audio. Message me for where to find it.

I know this thread is very old and if someone stumbles across it, people will be very hesitant to believe me, but most consistent leak was Trent himself and I know that for absolute fact. Not opinion, stake my life on it fact.

I don't have to go to the numerous websites where it talks about him maybe leaking it one day throughout the years and it's probably obvious by now.

The copy I have is from Trent, or whoever is running Trent's account and most of us who are very, very die-hard NIN fans know that account name on the internet. It's been around since most of these people were in grade school.

As for him regretting it, I've never read that, but I'm assuming he may have said it somewhere? I met him through Billy Howerdel two years back and specifically asked him about it and if he ever planned on pulling a "Rob Zombie" and he laughed and said he was proud of it.

Must have changed his tune.
