I adore this film, but I haven't been able to ascertain when, if, and where it was released theatrically by Paramount. I have a friend who was active in the film industry when this came out and sees virtually every theatrical release, and he hadn't even heard of the movie when I showed it to him a couple years back. Does anyone know what happened to "Brain Donors" when it was released?
shareI remember it well. The movie got a very limited release, at least in New Jersey, where I grew up.
My friend and I were really into the Marx Brothers the year before and couldn't wait for this to come out. It was advertised as Lame Ducks and I remember seeing a lobby standup, but the movie came out over a year later, renamed "Brain Donors".

Back then, the only movie info I got was the posters in the theaters. I too saw the Lame Ducks advertisement, but then the movie never came out under that name.

I saw it in the theaters when I was like 10 (lived in Calgary, Canada), so I don't know any details about it or why I was seeing it. I remember it being hilarious and no one I've ever met has ever heard of it. Netflixing now to see if it's as good as I remember.
shareI saw it in theaters in NY. It got released here, I don't remember seeing any advertisements for it. I was probably 8, went with my mom, my brother, a friend and his mom. I had no clue what we were seeing, we were shopping at a mall and it was the next film playing so we got tix and all of us laughed ourselves silly. It probably was a decade later I saw the original Marx bros night at the opera.
