Very underated movie...

They just don't make them like this anymore. I can watch this movie over and over and still laugh out loud each time. My only wish is that they had made another film with this cast or made this one longer!

P.S.- I HAVE BALLET RUNNIN THROUGH MY VEINS!
LILIAN WHO IS THIS MAN? LASLOW.... A LIKELY STORY....
I'M GOING TO LOOK UNDER THE BED.... AAAAACHOOOOO!!!!

Lazlo... I didn't see you standing there... I stand corrected, I saw you and chose to ignore you!

I like movies...

Roland: Let's take this outside and fight like men.
Lazlo: We are outside.
Roland: Then let's take this inside and fight like women

Seriously my favorite movie...and everything that Jacques does is just hysterical (spell check).

Roland:It's said that behind every great man there is a great woman, and I'm glad the woman behind me is Lillian; because, quite frankly, I enjoy the shade.

This film may be one of the greatest comedies of all time

reply

do you know if they sell it any where in full screen? I kind of hate widescreen

reply

Roland: The face is familiar.
Jacques: It's mine.
Roland: And so it is.

reply

Track down a copy of the VHS, it's in fullscreen.

Your probably just a speed reader

Well you got me there

Lillian: Do you know dogs, Mr. Meloncheck?
Rocco: Do I know dogs? I used to be a chef at a Korean restaurant!

Flakfizer: It's an old.. Gary Hart trick.

Flakfizer: ..and we're still one woman short.
Flakfizer: ..and you're out of toilet paper!

Tina:(coming out of the bedroom scantilly clad) I'm not leaving til I'm satisfied!
(Jacques-rips his clothes off as he runs over to her and..)

Lazlo: Aaah.. you're suite!
Flakfizer: ..something, something.. (Trust me! it was Hilarious!)

"What time is Recess?"

reply

I believe it goes:
Lazlo: Ahh, your suite!
Ff: Thanks. And I think you're pretty terrific yourself. (or some such)

Volaire: I told you! Never hang my tights by the crotch! It throws off my bulge!

Rocco: Five minutes, Mr Volare...(re-enters) Four minutes, Mr Volare...(re-enters) Three minutes, Mr Volare... (etc)

Ff: I got you this vase; it reminds me of you.

And I absolutely DIED laughing at the handshake gag. (Not so fast!) ROFLMAO

Ahh, to have Jaques computer...(complete with blow-up doll, lol)

Jaques emptying his pockets at the police station: Classic. especially when he puts the leg on the counter, then falls over. LOL

I swear, the laughs-per-minute ratio nearly approches 1:1

Too bad that half the cast never did any film work afterward.

On the Soprano's, the mom was the one who played Lillian.

Teri Copely (Tina) did other stuff.

Bob Nelson, Mel Smith, John Turturro and even that "Lazlo" guy has done other stuff.

Volare, Julie(?) and the boyfriend guy.., I'm not sure. Haven't looked. :\

"What time is Recess?"

I know Mel Smith played the Albino in "The Princess Bride".

John Turturro has been in a lot of things in a variety of roles. He was in Anger Management, Collateral Damage, and Transformers 1&2 (for starters).

reply

Rocco: Five minutes, Mr Volare...(re-enters) Four minutes, Mr Volare...(re-enters) Three minutes, Mr Jolson (after Volare begins applying the shoe polish)... (etc)

Glad this is available on netflix, might have to tell them I "lost" it

If you did that, I'll be so bummed out. Just checked, and it's not available anymore.

*Grrr*

At least someone stuck it on YouTube. I might have to use a downloader to grab it off yt until I can get the DVD.

This is simply THE GREATEST COMEDY EVER.
I've never seen a comedy better than this in ALL my life.

In Italy there's no DVD for this Perfect movie.

The most underatted movie of the last 20 years. You can't find it at any video store. Not on cable. What's a man to do.

reply

Someone else mentioned NetFLIX. If you can, you might want to give them a try.
Of course, I have it on VHS. Would love to get it on DVD!!! And have the "gang" get back together to do audio commentary/BONUS Feauters. I know, "Fat chance!"

The Marx Brothers homage is so blatant, but the cast just runs with it, making this perhaps the most overlooked comedy of the 90s. I seriously just watched it again for the first time in years and the final scenes at the ballet had me in tears, especially when they are throwing the stuff at Volare(the football, the kitchen sink, the giant toothbrush, and giant stuffed bear). Turturro was only a few years away from his breakout role in Quiz Show and he just shines here. A special edition DVD is almost impossible now, but a special edition blu ray..... Dennis Dugan and John Turturro went on to bigger things, but they continue to work together often, so here's to hoping.

I watched it last night and i was crying from laughter, i was surprised i didn't know this movie for so long. ZAZ (without Abraams here) have made some great comedies and this is probably the best. Pat Proft's story is amazing and the actors were amazing too. I can't believe how good Turturro was in this.
