The writers credited in the original, Andrei Konchalovsky and
Anatoli Usov, are not mentioned. And the title can apply to so many subjects, so the odds are against it I'd guess.

The writer of this current project, Camille Poisson, has a French sounding name...

But we can always hope.

It'd be a tall order walking in Tom Hulce's shadow don't you think?. Every part of the original was a gem. I'll never forget when he first demonstrated his ability to use the projector - awestruck in the presence of Stalin. Classic.

it should NOT be remade. There are a million other stories that could be told about the deeds of Stalin and Beria. Hollywood doesnt like making movies that are critical of Communism since they think that would betray all the communists that McCarthy hearings outed.
