What kind of surveillance set up did Benny have in his room?

We see a camera facing out a window in Benny's room, and that camera is connected to a TV, with the TV essentially being used as a monitor. Interesting idea. I like it.

But my question is:

Is it a regular old video camera that's being used or is it an actual surveillance camera?

Cause if it's a regular video camera, than I have a hard time believing that as being realistic. Unless a video camera is set on record, it'll eventually just power off. And on top of that, the camera would need to be connected to a charger at all times, otherwise the battery would inevitably die. And even if was on set on record, there's no way the memory could hold that much footage.
