If you're talking about the ending wheres there's that big like furnace. None of the dogs are put in there in the end. Listen to what the man say, one of them says "Now go and get the dogs" implying what had been burnt were just papers etc : )

"Someday we'll know if love can move a mountain"

reply

he probably just meant the deceased dogs to be burned. actually, that really happens. The animals that are euthanised at the shelters are sold to companies like johnson and johnson, and are melted down and used in shampoo's and other products. (I recieved this info by a professional when I was pondering the veterinary profession.) and plus, It was the early ninties, so it wasn't so sugar coated. I heard "damn" four times in The Teenage mutnat ninja turtles movie, and that has a pg rating.

p.s. "punk rock" I love the new radicals too! "Someday we'll know" is my favorite song by them!

I hope you are joking

You mean you didn't know that horses when they die, can be cut up into different parts and turned into glue? That other animals can be turned into other products we use on a daily basis?

You can't be serious? Please tell me this is just a bad joke.

I'm a pretty tough cookie, I never cry at films but this is still the one and only film that makes me cry when they take Beethoven to be put down. Gets me everytime!

T: What's your position?
P: upright, head turned slightly to the left.
T: Why do I bother??!!

If you mean the part where they are putting the boxes into the fire thing
they arent dogs! hes says "to burn the evidence" hes probally burning collars
and the dog food.

reply

No, they aren't burning dogs...but they're about to. One of the guys says something like "Alright, now go get the dogs." and the other says something like "The dogs!?" and then the first one says something like, "Yeah, he said burn all of the evidence." So it's a bit grim in the sense that they're plotting to burn a bunch of dogs in a kids' movie, but, no, the dogs are never burnt.

reply

are you joking?
they weren't burning dogs.
i always used to think that too, but they're burning all the papers that could supply as evidence
i don't think any movie is supposed to burn dogs..

reply

Yeah they really do use dead animals for common household products. But some way worse stuff happens to animals on the way to becoming meat. I'm not one of those PETA types but it's important to know where you food/goods comes from.

reply

The first time I saw this movie when I was attending a Christian school at the age of 5.. so I think this movie is ok. But anyway, if animals are used in products, what is the specific ingredient you would see on the label?

reply

I was reading the ingredients label on my Herbal Essences yesterday and noticed that one of the listed ingredients was "Panda". So I would say look for something like that.

reply

Nah it won't say. I mean horses get turned into glue that's a given, other animals parts are used to make your basic commercial goods.

And to make sure perfume and whatnot is safe they spray lab monkeys in the eyes and stuff like that. They might keep them for observation for maybe 120 hours and then euthanize them. Most of the chemicals in consumer products available have, at one time or another, been used on lab animals.

First they were food, then we put them in show business, now animals test out our crappy toxic spray on deodorants to make sure they don't kill us.

Everybody should read Upton Sinclair's The Jungle, and then try to go fry up some bacon. Good luck.

Animal testing is such a highly touchy subject. There are 35 pages worth of paperwork they have to fill out for EACH AND EVERY animal subject that gets tested. They have to verify why and if the animal will go through any pain whatsoever. Also, if the animal must be euthanized, they must provide an accurate reason as to why. They have to justify it (on each and every animal) and then it goes through a committee to get approval. It isn't that easy to just give a monkey a can of spray and say "see ya later ape". Labs where animal testing does occur are checked often, randomly, and quite well (source: "Laboratory Animal Science"--By Dr. Larry Katz). This also goes for most slaughter houses. The left over bits from slaughterhouses are then used for different things, such as other products-dog, cat, human, etc; it's used for food (think jell-o), as well as some products (placenta is in pretty much all shampoo).
Now, contrary to what a previous poster said, your once beloved family pet does not make it to your household products. The ashes are disposed of properly in accordance with state guidelines. There are plenty of families that also keep Fido's ashes as well. I'm disappointed in whoever gave them such ill information.
I have a degree in Animal Science from Rutgers University where production and lab work were requirements. As part of my Livestock Production class, I have visited and studied farm animals, as well as slaughterhouses (not my favorite of field trip). My boyfriend, and the rest of his family, work for different pharmaceutical companies, as well as Unilever--the maker of many products from Dove to Slim fast. I just don't want people to be ill informed. I as well, have worked at an animal hospital, and have many friends who work throughout the industry (hey.. college does that to you).
Now, this is not to say that all companies are saints--no. But the vast majority really are good, quality companies. And another note, if a company doesn't test on animals, don't forget... at some point, every ingredient was tested on an animal somewhere. The finished product wasn't.
Hope that helps!!!

That makes the movie just as much for adults as it is for children. Not like the crappy sequels. I don't mean the second one, which was good. I mean 3, 4 and 5...which I like to pretend never happened.

Plot to 3rd- two bumbling thugs try to steal back a DVD with an encoded message.
Plot to 4th- Kidnapping and ransom
Plot to 5th- damned if I know.

Pathetic plots aiming down to children.

The 3rd Beethoven film had a plot on par with Home Alone 3: villains after something with a computer code inside. Only difference, HA3 had funny gags, some educational moments, a happy ending, and a gorgeous female villain.
