Sympathy for Dr Varnick

Do you feel sorry for Dr. Varnick? The man is probably going to lose his Veterinarian license and will probably end up in prison. However, he never actually did anything wrong. He was going to, but he was stopped.

Think about it.

1. He wanted no part of this deal until the shady man gave him tons of cash. Dr. Varnick is smart enough to know that his own family would be in danger if he offends some wealthy gangster.

2. He tried to avoid trouble with the Newtons at all cost, but they kept butting in. He told them not to bother with calling an ambulance, nor did he threaten to file a lawsuit due to Beethoven's attack. Yes, Beethoven did attack Dr. Varnick.

3. Dr. Varnick tried to keep the Newtons out of his shameful deeds as much as possible. He knew the gangsters would kill them if they saw too much. That is why he didn't want them in the office that night. He was protecting them.

The bottom line is that Dr. Varnick was bullied by gangsters into performing tests of animal cruelty.

Nuh-uh.....NO

Varnick was a evil heartless person.

If he had any decency in his soul, he would've gave Beethoven back when he saw how much the Newtons really loved him and wanted him back

He told them not to bother with calling an ambulance,
Yes of course he did. An ambulance crew would have examined his arm and exposed him as a fraud.

reply

I had zero sympathy for Dr Varnick and thought he was a very evil, heartless man and I was so happy when one of the dogs bit him

reply

"Yes, Beethoven did attack Dr. Varnick."

Well, if you hit a dog enough times what do you think they'll do?

"Gee, why would a hired gun try to kill somebody? ... Could it be someone PAYED me to?" Deadshot

reply

That's a pretty funny post, Chris. I think some people took it seriously. Now why don't you try to justify why Adolf Hitler would deserve sympathy too?

The orgianl poster is either a troll or didn't pay attention to the movie.

Dr. Varnick was out to kill Beethoven from the beginning. He was killing innocent dogs, for an experiment. He wasn't trying to protectthe Newtons, all he cared about was money and making a fortune.

Try watching the movie again.

Obviously he is a troll, but a funny one at that. I give him an A for effort. lol

reply

I know this guy is a troll, but I can't resist. XD

There's plenty of villains I can feel sorry for, but Herman Varnick is not one of them. The man's very first line is the most threatening-sounding "I need puppies!" ever uttered in film.

1. He wanted no part of this deal until the shady man gave him tons of cash.

What he actually says is large dogs like the one the other man wants are hard to get. I.e., to him it just isn't worth the trouble to take the job until he sees that fat wad of cash. I doubt the man had an altruistic bone in his body.

2. He tried to avoid trouble with the Newtons at all cost, but they kept butting in.

Because he didn't want them to discover he was up to some really illegal sh*t.

He told them not to bother with calling an ambulance, nor did he threaten to file a lawsuit due to Beethoven's attack.

Because if they called an ambulance, the EMTs would discover he hadn't actually been bitten, and the jig would've been up. And while he didn't threaten to sue, he did threaten to press charges, in an effort to goad George into turning Beethoven pronto.

Yes, Beethoven did attack Dr. Varnick.

Because Varnick punched him!

And it's clearly what he wanted to happen, too, considering he is grinning evilly going "Good boy, goooooood boy!" the entire time (Jesus he's creepy).

3. Dr. Varnick tried to keep the Newtons out of his shameful deeds as much as possible.

Because he didn't want to be found out. XD

He knew the gangsters would kill them if they saw too much.

If he was protecting the Newtons why does he try to blow George's head off? He's clearly willing to murder humans alongside animals to cover up his dirty secrets.

I mean, really, how many times will you look under Jabba's manboobs?

reply

Yeah, the man was no Darth Vader who I could actually feel sorry for.

I hope you are joking. Dr. Varnick knew what he was doing, everything in your post does not justify his actions. He never cared about the dogs he killed or their families. He only did what he had to so he would not get caught. Did you hear the news report at the end where it was stated he was charged for 125 counts of dog deaths because of the *beep* up stuff him and his goons where into? He deserves the book. Evil bastard.

The more personalities you have the less boring you are!

Varnick was messed up beyond belief. RIP Dean Jones, he kicked ass.
