Mike Pence abandoning Donald Trump this week makes me think of the scene in this movie where Max shrugs as he abandons The Penguin when Gotham turns against him and throws tomatoes.

"You'll have to go through me first!" to protect his father doesn't really overlap with, "Tear gas these protesters so I can hold a Bible for a photo-op".

Max is Donald
Chip is Donald Jr (his son)

Both are evil businessmen who don't care about anybody other than themselves and they're blood related---it totally fits. Oh and both belong in jail.

Max was Donald abandoning his people---remember Donald was not at the insurection which he had very publically encouraged.
