Why 'The Progeny'?

I saw the movie, and the title says only "Basket Case 3", there's no mention of "The Progeny" anywhere in the film itself. So why does it appear as the official title in IMDb, and not as some "video cover title" etc.?

It says "The Progeny" on my DVD.

I know you are, but what am I?

But does it say so in the movie opening itself, or just on the DVD cover?

i am pretty sure my older brother had a Fangoria issue which had some behind the scenes article about the movie before it came out...and i am pretty sure it was called Basket Case 3: The Progeny even way back then (~'92)

OP is right, just saw this flick and after part 2's finale rehash, the title card simply reads: Basket Case 3!

No mention of 'The Progeny' anywhere! I only recalled that add-on when I came here to rate BC3.

it's been called "The Progency" at least since the first home video release. I was given the poster for the VHS release by a video store i was a regular at 20 years ago when it came out. It had similar art to the dvd, only the hideous font used for the now OOP dvd was just the red blood lettering on the top, and the carriage was a lot smaller. not sure why 'the progency' doesn't show up on the film print - i skimmed the fangoria pre-release article and it doesn't seem to mention it either. might have been a shapiro-glickenhaus thing to let it be more clear that this one included the offspring of Belial, though the art sort of makes that obvious.

*edit - the pictures section here has the image i am talking about. i guess i am just verifying that this extra title is indeed twenty years old, and not just something they printed on the dvd.
