New DVD Question...

I have the original now LONG out of print Fox DVD with it's cruddy fullscreen transfer. I know the new Synapse DVD is widescreen(thank god...), but I was wondering if the print itself is improved from the old DVD? I think their Basket Case 2 DVD looks fantastic, so I'm hoping 3 here got similar treatment. Should I double dip?
