Psychiatrist Dr. Beth Garner (Jeanne Tripplehorn) is written mainly as a red herring, though she also helps exemplify Nick’s shifts in personality. “Jeanne’s costumes were there to be just as much a disguise as Sharon’s” Mirojnick explains, “Her palette was to compliment her dark colouring and to blend organically with her work environment. Every costume I designed for Jeanne needed a sexual ease, not stereo-typically ‘sexy’. For example, Nick Curran slides his hand up Beth’s leg and the fabric of her skirt easily rides up. It is sexy, but it isn’t overtly obvious“.share
Following the interrogation, Nick is so frustrated at his inability to manipulate Catherine that he takes his intense sexual frustration out on Beth by nearly raping her. Beth is the antithesis of Catherine, wearing dark greens and browns, sloping shoulder jackets and round frame reading glasses. The red lipstick, however, bestows that siren quality that Catherine denies.
Yet for all the control in her appearance, Beth’s behaviour is unstable and obsessive. She snaps at her co-worker in a bar and lunges at Nick when he suggests their physical relationship meant nothing. Unlike Catherine, Beth is a slave to her emotions. It is so conceivable that she is the killer, even when the film’s final moment reveals the truth for sure; a flicker of doubt still exists in our mind.

Tripplehorn has a much more classically beautiful face- though a bit bovine. Stone's face is flat and her eyes without make-up would be non-descript- doesn't have the "power" face that a true dominant psychotic killer would have.
Stone does have the body that Tripplehorn doesn't.
Just saw the movie on NetFlix, and I swear they have added scenes back in previously deleted. When I saw it years ago, it was all about Stone and the Tripplehorn sex scene seemed tame. Now there are shots there where Tripplehorn exposes more than Stone does- and that's saying a lot. A quick ScreenCapture search verified it.
It would fit that Verhoven added deleted scenes as the years passed and Hollywood standards relaxed.

Way hotter than Stone, even with the glasses on, and she had the hottest sex scene. I know I'm in the minority on that but that's my opinion.

shareI don't think you are in the minority over Jeanne's particular sex scene. I think the majority of people who have seen this movie finds the scene where Michael practically rapes her ass to be far hotter than the scenes with Sharon.
Did he really rape her in the ass though!!? Because she wasn't in that much pain and actually seemed to enjoy it in the end, where is if you shoved that hard, without lube even, it seems you would cause not only the woman great pain, but yourself, where as she seemed to not have any. share

Seriously? That scene was truly disgusting--nothing "sexy" about it. The fact that you say it is, is truly disturbing. In fact, that whole movie was filled up with completely sick,perverted and truly fcked-up characters, especially the leads. Everything in it was over-the-top and exploitative as hell.
