Does anyone know what happened to them? That was probably the most tragic thing I'd ever seen, and I'm really curious to know if there's any information on them.
It was the scene where there were a few kids all croutched around a hole in the wall and they were sharing some food. Can't remember the place in the film, sorry!
The documentary feature on the Blu-ray disc explains the set up with the children. They aren't in fact orphans, they are abandoned every day by their parents while they go to work. The five year olds look after the two year olds, the eight year olds look after the five year olds, the twelve year olds look after the eight year olds and so on. There is no provision for child care in these poor communities and if there were nobody could afford it, so the kids take care of each others needs every working day.
A very sad state of affairs.
