Did LT's family know/suspect how seriously messed up he was?

With the exception of the grandma walking in on LT doing coke in the living room at night, did his family have any suspicions/knowledge how severely messed up he was? It was demonstrated in the film that he certainly was a significantly aloof/absentee father, yet did anybody know how deep his gambling addiction/drug addiction was?
