Bleeding while running the bases?

I had seen this film when I was very young, and one thing that stuck with me was the final scene where The Babe was struggling to run the bases and began to bleed from the mouth.

I just re-watched it again on cable and I didn't see any bleeding.

Is my memory faulty? Was it a different scene that I recalled?

- Confused.

Sorry I can't help with anything definitive. Maybe it was supposed to be tobacco juice?

How do the angels get to sleep when the Devil leaves his porch light on?

Nope, your memory is just fine.

He's supposed to be showing his struggle with lung cancer (something the film does not overly touch on) and at one point in the last game, the catcher points to the ground and says very empathic "Your bleeding Ruth" to which Ruth gives no answer but pats him on the sholder and nods as if to say "don't worry about it".

I actually find this and the rest of that sequence where he runs the bases for the last time to be quite emotional and by far the best part of this film.
