Which is better this movie or the 1948 version

I haven't seen either movie yet, but thanks for mentioning the 1948 movie. I'm going to see if I can find it and I'll get back with you.

In absolute terms, the 1948 version is a worse movie. But, as they should have *learned* something in the intervening decades, the later one is a bigger disgrace.

This one is nothing to write home about, but it's much better than the one from 1948. The 1948 version is absolutely horrible.

I think The Babe Ruth Story starring William Bendix is to Babe Ruth as They Died with Their Boots On starring Errol Flynn is to George Armstrong Custer. I suppose this one is better only because the bar was set so low.

When they made The Babe Ruth Story, they went out of their way to make Babe Ruth look good. When they made The Babe, they went out of their way to make Babe look bad. Neither movie is a great movie. I thought The Babe was terrible. But The Babe Ruth Story is much more enjoyable. The Babe Ruth Story is not The Pride of the Yankees, which is pretty sad. You would think they'd be able to make a good movie about such a larger than life figure and a man who is arguably the greatest baseball player who ever lived. In The Babe, they exaggerate things, they make things up, and they try to make people think Babe Ruth was that fat and always fat his whole career, which is BS. Someday I hope they make a great movie about Babe Ruth. The same goes for Mickey Mantle, Ty Cobb, and Shoeless Joe Jackson.
