EXACTLY, how gross is this film!?

Spoil it all for me, give me all the little details. I ain't planning to watch this anyway. Also, can the violence compare to Japanese films like let's say... Ichi the Killer or Audition?

reply

The violence easily tops Audition and in my opinion surpasses Ichi the Killer only because the story is based on real events. The 1st half hour seems relatively tame until the the murder/rape sequence. He rapes then kills this woman with a handful of chopsticks shoved into her "special" area. The climax of the film surrounds a family mass murder where he bites off a chunk of a woman's cheek and spits it at her husband, kills the woman and the man's son in front of him with a broken bottle, then punctures his neck, all while 4 young girls watch. He then kills all the young girls with a meat cleaver. Nasty stuff and I've never seen this much violence directed towards kids.

Damn, pretty heavy stuff... Don't think I can stomach it at all...

Thanks!

You also see human guts lifted out of a human body and put into boiling water. You see a severed butt (!), human meat put into meat grinder and mixed into pork buns. Lots of brutal beatings, kicks and hits, and lots of body parts.

What really makes this movie gross is the fact that some people are cpable of doing things like this. And much, much worse.

reply

You get burnings, loads of dismembered body parts, eye-gougings, brutal beatings and tortures, stabbings and rape. Yeah, this movie is pretty crazy.

reply

I'm not sure if I got the uncut version of this one...
All the things you guys mentioned were in the version I got, except the chopstick rape scene (It doesn't REALLY show anything).

You people forgot to mention the wrist-slitting scene.
Pretty nasty too.

reply

It was violent and brutal but the gore itself was pretty cheesy and very fake ( rubbery limbs and such ).

reply

Aside from the wrist slitting and the climax, I really thought this was over rated.

Even the finale was only made nasty because of the children being killed but most of the murders in the film happen off camera and you just see blood spraying.

If people are expecting graphic Fulci style gore, you'll be disappointed.

It's violent and mean spirited at times but it's not overly graphic.

reply

I agree. It really isn't that gory, but just... way too mean spirited.

I found this flick disturbing not because of the gory parts, but due to the whole nihilistic feel of the movie. But maybe it was just me...

reply

I agree. This movie wasn't just disturbing, it was just plain DISTURBED!

It makes Last House on the Left seem like a light hearted comedy in comparison.

reply

I think what makes this movie special, is that not only did it have shocking violence and some good gore, but that it was all done in the context of a good film. Sure there are plenty of gorier, nastier movies (August Undergroun's Mordum, Guinea Pig, etc.), but oftentimes, those movies are just not very good... This little gem pleased on multiple levels. I think that is why it resonates with people...

The family kill scene was alot for me to handle, not necessarily because of the gore, but just his unbelievable brutality to them. I mean, when its all over, you have kid body parts all over that dining room area. Just wow.

Sold!

lets see...
spike in the eye

metal spoon beating

brutal rape complete with harsh nipple twisting

bodys turned into barbecue pork

disturbing on screen child murder and mutilation

suicide by grinding wrists against rigid metal

all shown mostly onscreen.
